Magan Magan is the author of the debut collection, From Grains to Gold (Vulgar Press, 2018). He is also co editing forthcoming anthology, Growing Up African InAustralia (Black Inc, 2019). He is a 2018 Hot Deskfellow at The Wheeler Centre, and reviews poetry for Melbourne Spoken Word.
Magan’s writing have been published in Hyde Magazine, Literary Arts Journal Offset, Cordite Poetry Review, The Suburban Review, Amnesty International, and anthologies Shots From The Chamber, Hunter Anthology of Contemporary Australian Feminist Poetry, and Australian Poetry.
Magan has read his work at The National Gallery of Victoria, The National Young Writers Festival, The Emerging Writers Festival, The Melbourne Spoken Word and Poetry Festival, and Melbourne Writers Festival.
Magan is currently completing a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Writing and Literary Studies at Victoria University. He has run poetry workshops in partnershipwith Darebin City Council, Express Media, Australian Poetry, and Laneway Learning on ‘writing the self’ – which aims to help individuals connect with themselves.
Magan is currently undertaking a research project focusing on how reading and writing poetry helpsindividuals develop a richer inner life.
